As of December 2015, the record has sold 682,000 pure copies in the United States, and has since been certified 2× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) by adding streaming and track sales equivalent. In the United Kingdom, The Pinkprint debuted at number 22 on the UK Albums Chart. The album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 with 244,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, of which 198,000 were pure sales. Among best of the decade lists, it landed at 166 on Pitchfork and 60 on Rolling Stone. Upon its release, The Pinkprint received positive reviews from music critics, with many of them complimenting its production and personal lyrics. Looking to depart from the dance-pop elements of her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), The Pinkprint is a follow-up record influenced by her traditional hip hop beginnings. Minaj co-executive-produced the album alongside Birdman, Lil Wayne and Ronald Williams, with a variety of producers who produced the album's sound.
